Episode VII Adds Two More Actresses to the Cast
This morning it was announced on StarWars.com that actresses Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years A Slave) and Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones) have joined the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII in yet-to-be announced roles.
On the casting of these two actresses, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said “I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII. It’s thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape.”
The casting of Nyong’o and Christie should help to eliminate the backlash received during the initial revealing of the cast, when fans and critics felt there were not enough female characters in the film.
Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams and is scheduled for a December 18, 2015 release.
