Five Predictions for Celebration Anaheim
Well today is the day, have you felt it? It’s the first official day of Star Wars Celebration and all is well. As we wait for all the new information to come screeching in faster than a swarm of TIE fighters, here are our five predictions of what we think MIGHT happen over the next four days:
5: The whole cast of The Force Awakens will appear on stage. With Disney now running the show, it’s all about the spectacle and what better way to kick off a convention than to trot the entire cast from this year’s most anticipated film out on stage together. I don’t expect them to stick around (except for the folks who are going to be there signing autographs all weekend) but they will all be lined up on stage with Abrams waving and smiling…
4: …EXCEPT for Harrison Ford. This one I’ve been on the fence about. There have been tell-tale signs in the weeks leading up to the show that Ford will make an EXTREMELY appreviated appearance and maybe even sign a ridiculously limited amount of autographs. The one thing that gives me pause is his recent plane accident. By all accounts he is on track for a complete recovery, but unlike his recovery from the broken leg, he has been completely out of the public eye. My guess is that he appears via video.
3: The Collectible Pins in the Official Store will sell out FAST. Pin collecting in the world of Disney is HUGE. Star Wars collectibles are HUGE, especially limited edition collectibles. Put the two together and BLAM! Early word is these are going to be the big hit of the show with fans having to scramble not only to the official store, but also to random vendor booths that will be the only place you can acquire specific pins. Best advice, if you sctumble across some pins, no matter the character, BUY THEM! Even if it’s multiples of the same character. You will be able to trade them without ANY difficulty for pins that you want/need.
2: Marvel will announce a stand-alone Lando Calrissian comic book series. Rumor is Marvel will actually announce TWO new Star Wars titles this weekend. My guess is the smooth operator from Cloud City will get one of them and it will be all about Lando’s early days before he criss-crossed and then flipp-flopped in The Empire Strikes Back. His appearance in an episode of the animated Star Wars Rebels was so well received that more adventures with the Millennium Falcon’s original owner seem to be a slam dunk.
AND THE NUMBER ONE PREDICTION IS…
1: Celebration Orlando. Spring 2017. BOOK IT!
