Everyone is Asking “Where is Luke?”
LOS ANGELES — A long time ago, in a Hollywood far, far away, 20th Century Fox was the exclusive distributor of Star Wars. And in those bygone days before Disney bought Lucasfilm, Luke Skywalker was front and center. Always.
But with the weekend release of a new Star Wars: The Force Awakens poster, everyone — even 20th Century Fox — is wondering: Where’s Luke?
When Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012, we all knew that the reawakened Star Wars franchise would not open with the beloved 20th Century Fox fanfare. Unless Disney makes some special homage — which, given the way fans respond to all things familiar in Star Wars, it just might.
As for the “where’s Luke” question, well — all indications are that Star Wars: The Force Awakens will find Luke Skywalker cast somewhere deep into the Galaxy, with a quest to find him being one of the movie’s central themes. Though we know Mark Hamill is reprising his role, his absence on the “official” poster is probably a clue into that storyline.
