J.J. Abrams Names Victoria Mahoney as’Episode IX’ Second Unit Director
J.J. Abrams, who returns to Star Wars to direct ‘Episode IX’ has tapped Victoria Mahoney to be his Second Unit director.
The move is a historic one for the 40 year old Star Wars franchise as Mahoney becomes the first African-American woman to serve in any directing role.
The announcement was revealed on social media earlier today by fellow director Ava DuVernay, who recently helmed Disney’s ‘A Wrinkle in Time’.
