Star Wars Saga Actor Alan Harris Passes Away at Age 81
Alan Harris, the actor who was the man behind the mask of bounty hunter Bossk in ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ has passed away at the age of 81.
While the actor is most fondly remembered for portraying the lizard-looking bounty hunter in the 1980 sequel to ‘Star Wars’, Harris also appeared throughout the original trilogy in a series of smaller roles. He played the role of a rebel leader on Yavin in 1977’s ‘A New Hope’, a Rebel soldier on Hoth and a Bespin Security Guard in ‘Empire’ and as a Stormtrooper in ‘Return of the Jedi’.
He was also the body used to mold two of the more iconic props/costumes in the saga. He was the model for the original ‘prototype’ white armor for Boba Fett as well as the body for Han Solo’s carbonite-encased form. (only Harrison Ford’s face was cast for the prop).
Harris also appeared in the TV Series ‘Space 1999’ as well as the movies ‘Superman: The Movie’, ‘Flash Gordon’ and ‘The Shining’.
