Press Release from Dark Horse.

January 11, MILWAUKIE, OR—The critically acclaimed and highly anticipated Star Wars #1, written by Brian Wood, has officially sold out of its first printing and will be going for a second run next month!

Set in the classic era with classic characters, this all-new Star Wars features artist Carlos D’Anda (Batman: Arkham City) with covers by the legendary Alex Ross. The initial print run of this smash-hit issue came complete with a download code for a free digital issue of the comic through Dark Horse Digital.

This is Star Wars as you remember it . . . and as you have never seen it before! Dark Horse is taking you back to those heady, adventure-filled days following the destruction of the Death Star—when the Empire ruled, the Rebels were on the run, and the galaxy was a dangerous place where anything might happen!

While a second printing is in the works, hurry now to your local comics retailer and grab a copy from the first print run before they’re gone for good!

Comic Book Resource had the exclusive on this yesterday, but for those of you who missed it here you go.

After a 2012 that saw George Lucas sell his Lucasfilm production company to Disney and then donate much of the proceeds to an educational foundation how on Earth (or Tatooine, or Hoth, or...) could Mr. Lucas do in 2013 for an encore? Well we didn't have to wait too long to find out. Today it was announced on The Huffington Post website that Mr. Lucas and his girlfriend of seven years, Mellody Hobson are engaged to be married.

The marriage will be the second for Mr. Lucas and the first for Ms. Hobson. We here at the Cantina join all of Mr. Lucas' friends and fans in wishing the couple or sincerest congratulations!

Today the folks over at Disney Parks Blog announced that the dates for the 2013 edition of Star Wars Weekends are officially set. Beginning on May 17th, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until June 9th will be packed with a galaxy's worth of fun and excitement. In a story that started spreading across the inter-tubes this morning at light speed, the news organization Reuters may have inadvertently let a key detail about Episode VII out of the bag. In a story published yesterday on their website about the Mayan Apocalypse and the Mayans ties to the original Star Wars movie (A New Hope), the author wrote the following:

"Yavin 4 and the rebel base return to the Star Wars plot in the forthcoming Episode VII, announced in October by the Walt Disney Co, in which Skywalker comes back to the planet to build a Jedi Knight academy. However, fans said that Disney will likely film those scenes in a studio rather than return to Tikal."

Hasbro announced today that they will be re-issuing "fan favorites" from the Vintage line. They have decided to do a "best of the best" and split them up between the US and International Market places. The following is the line-up that will be available in the International market starting in early February 2013. It will be broken down into 2 waves.
