In non Angry Bird-related Star Wars news, the Japanese company Aigan announced recently a line of high-fashion eyeglass frames based on characters from the Star Wars universe. There are five different designs to choose from, each inspired by a different character from the Star Wars Saga: Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, Darth Vader, Boba Fett and a Stormtrooper.

The glasses will be imported from Japan for sale in the US by Gizmine. They will be available for purchase by the end of October and carry a retail price of $499.99 a pair.



Star Wars Reads and Bleeds 2012

On October 6th 2012 the Star Wars Reads and Bleeds event took place at the Providence Community Library located on Hope St in Providence, RI. The event was hosted and organized by Star Wars author Ryder Windham and in the costuming groups the Alderaan Base and the New England Garrison of the 501st Legion was in attendance to show support and provide a fun atomsphere. Launching worldwide on November 8, the unique partnership will combine all the fun of the classic Angry Birds and Angry Birds Space with the characters, stories and settings of the epic space fantasy, Star Wars.



With the full reveal not due ontil Monday morning, the websites BleedingCool.com and IdleHandsBlog unveiled a sneak peek at a line of Star Wars Angry Birds products ranging from plushes and action games to costumes, which have already hit store shelves as we reported to you first yesterday via our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. It looks like in addition to those costumes, fans can also expect:



It looks like Angry Birds and Star Wars are becoming one with the Force. Today on their Tumblr.com page Rovio, the parent company for the Angry Bird franchise unveiled an animated image of a cloaked Angry Bird igniting a lightsaber. Beneath the image was the following text:

"Times Square, New York, October 8th, 10am EST.

HINT: Head to Toys R Us at 8am EST!"

Does this mean we're getting a Star Wars-themed Angry Birds game? Or maybe Toys and Plush products? Or maybe BOTH?? Only time will tell and that time will be early Monday morning.

Just a last-minute, friendly reminder that in less than 9 hours, season 5 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars will premiere on the Cartoon Network on it's new day and time of Saturdays at 9:30 am. So remember to set your alarm early, pour yourself a bowl of Admiral Ackbar cereal (complete with blue milk) and get comfy on the couch for what should be a fantastic kick-off to what promises to be the BEST season of The Clone Wars yet!



Next weekend Oct 6th will be the first annual Star Wars Reads Day event brought to you be the folks at DK Publishing will be coming to book stores, libraries, etc in a town near you. The event will be held in 1,250 book stores and libraries and will be held in each of the 50 states. It looks to be a great event celebrating the word of Star Wars and reading. Besides the activities at each location there will be prizes and give-a-ways as well. Be sure to check out the main Star Wars site for more details and to find an event nearest you. If you can not make it you are in luck you can download the activity packet on the main Star Wars site as well. The packet looks like it has a bunch of cool stuff from travia to crafts to food recipes to making pop ups to coloring pages to various games. Looks like hours of fun for kids of all ages who am I kidding adults as well.
