George Lucas Reveals that Hamill, Fisher and Ford will Return for Episode VII…Sort of

In a Bloomberg Businessweek interview published online this morning, George Lucas let slip the nugget of information that every Star Wars fan has been waiting to hear since it was announced that there would be a new trilogy of films. Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford are signed, sealed and delivered for Episode VII. Well, sort of.

After revealing the news, Mr. Lucas seemed to immediately realize what he did and instantly began to retract (some what) the news. Here is the full qoute of what he said:

“We had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison—or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation. So I called them to say, ‘Look, this is what’s going on.’ ” He pauses. “Maybe I’m not supposed to say that. I think they want to announce that with some big whoop-de-do, but we were negotiating with them.” Then he adds: “I won’t say whether the negotiations were successful or not.”

So what do you think? Did he let the cat out of the bag or did he just misspeak? Either way, it appears that an OFFICIAL official statement may be coming sooner  rather than later.
